Certified Yoga Therapist
Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher
A long time ago, before personal computers; when telephones had rotary dials; and you had to get up off your butt to change the few channels on your floor mounted television set, there was a little girl who loved to dance. So much so, that as a young woman she pursued a career as a Broadway dancer. Alas, a back injury curtailed that dream. Not to be defeated, she chose a corporate career behind the curtain only to discover she was a round peg trying to fit into a square hole.
And then along came yoga to save her starving soul! Yoga gave Ellen permission to continue to express herself through movement and introduced her to the workings of her mind, body and soul. Soon the call of the yoga teacher beckoned and Ellen embarked on a journey to share this ancient philosophy and science with those who chose to listen.
Ellen’s yoga journey has spanned over 40 years, more than 20 of which have been as a teacher of yoga and meditation. A student in the Krishnamacharya lineage, Ellen became a yoga therapist specializing in physical, physiological and psychoemotional healing. With this fully rounded experience, she hopes to empower all bodies and minds.
Having owned and directed The Yoga Sanctuary in New York for 12 years a community of like-minded individuals came together to make a difference in the world through their own transformation. Ellen’s dream is to support her students transformation into more peaceful, compassionate and kinder humans who create a ripple-effect out into our starving planet.

Yoga &Meditation with Ellen
Ellen teaches mindful slow flow yoga classes with therapeutic applications to bring ease to your body, mind and spirit. In addition, she offers adaptations to accommodate both limitations and abilities. Her classes are infused with humor and yoga philosophy. Students come away feeling empowered and with a deeper sense of self.
Mindfulness meditation classes are facilitated to anchor practitioners in the present moment while developing a friendly and compassionate relationship with the workings of the mind.
Practices include topics such as loving-kindness, forgiveness, self-compassion and gratitude. You will develop a better relationship with yourself and will thrive in your relationships with others.
The power of the breath is explored in both yoga and meditation classes. Your breath will anchor you in the present moment, relax your nervous system and during yoga will facilitate a more effective and efficient means of movement. The power of the breath cannot be over-stated.
Ellen is passionate about helping students discover their unique needs and tailoring both their yoga and meditation practice to bring balance and healing to their lives.
